Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Wednesday Week 1 of Advent - December 2, 2020

WEDNESDAY FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT

Isaiah 25:6-10

Matthew 15:29-37

PREPARE FOR A LIFE OF MERRIMENT

The readings of today are very appealing, especially with the concept of food. Many of us are already planning to have the best of meals during the festive season. In the first reading of today, the prophet Isaiah tells us that God will prepare a feast of choicest food for us on his Holy mountain. Whatever food we can think of will be provided for us in abundance. We therefore do not need to worry about what we will eat, God himself will prepare our meals and serve us at table.

This is very obvious in the gospel reading of today. The people did not tell Jesus that they were hungry after listening to his homily, Jesus himself knew that they were hungry, and he looked for food for them. Another important lesson is that the Apostles gave the little they had to Jesus and he used it to bless all those who were present. The little we share with others this festive season, will go a long way to satisfy the hunger and thirst of many. As we think of ourselves, let us also think of others. God help us. Amen
