Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Friday Week 31 Ordinary time - November 20, 2020

FRIDAY 33RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II

APOCALYPSE 10:1-8, LUKE 19:45-48

THE TRUTH MUST BE TOLD

The word of God is like a fire that burns in the heart of believers. Many of us hate those who speak the word of God, especially when they speak the truth to us.

In the first reading of today, we see how God puts his word in the mouth of John to proclaim to the peoples and nations. It is a proclamation that sounds sour in the heart of the people. People hate and persecute those who speak the truth.

In the gospel reading, we see how the people took delight in doing whatever they liked with the temple of God. They turned it into a business arena for their selfish aim. When Jesus told them that it was not right to do so, they began to persecute him and looked for ways to eliminate him.

You may be hated for speaking the truth, but do not abandon the scroll God has given to you and say something different out of fear. God help us. Amen.
