Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Monday Week 34 Ordinary time - November 23, 2020

MONDAY 34TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II

Apocalypse 14:1-5,

Luke 21:1-4

SUCH ARE THE MEN

St John has been seeing visions of the last day as we have been seeing in the first readings in recent times. In the first reading of today, John tells us how he saw many people standing before the mountain of God. They were inscribed with the word of God on their foreheads; words of peace, patience, generosity,  kindness, gentleness and the likes. John was told that they are people who were pure and spotless, no fault could be found in them, they never allowed a lie to pass through their lips.

Generosity is part of the qualities to be before God. We see in the gospel reading how a woman who had little was praised for being very generous. Someone who has N1,000 can be said to be generous if he gives out N200 to a needy person, but one who has N100,000 and gives out N200, can be said to be selfish. We ask God for the grace to live a virtuous life so as to be worthy to stand before him. God help us. Amen.
