Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Friday Week 3 of Advent - December 18, 2020

FRIDAY 18TH DECEMBER 2020

THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT

Jeremiah 23:5-8

Matthew 1:18-24

GOD'S PLANS ARE PERFECT

As we look forward more closely to the coming of our saviour, we see the prophecy of the prophet Isaiah coming to pass. He tells us that God has promised the time when he will send a descendant of David to us. The saviour is not only coming to take us out of slavery like Moses did for the Israelites in Egypt. He is also coming to save us from the slavery of sin which we have put ourselves.

In the gospel reading of yesterday, we see in the genealogy of Jesus that he is a descendant of David. He is the messiah the prophet  Jeremiah talks about in the first reading. The continuation of the gospel of yesterday which we read today tells us that Joseph cooperated with the plan of God for our salvation. Some things that happen in life may look as if its coincidence, but God has his hands in our lives and his plans are perfect. God help us and perfect his plans in our lives. Amen.
