Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Friday Week 1 of Advent - December 4, 2020

 FRIDAY 1ST WEEK OF ADVENT

Psalm 26:1,4,13-14

Matthew 9:27-31

The prophet Isaiah keeps assuring us that things will get better with the coming of the messiah. He tells us that barren lands will be fertile again, those who mourn at the moment will rejoice and dance. The deaf will hear and the blind will see. At that time, the wicked and evil doers shall be disgraced, and the lowly and pure of heart will rejoice. According to Isaiah, those who serve God with their hearts will not be disgraced.

In the gospel reading, we see a foretaste of what the coming of our messiah will be. The blind have been made to see and their joy knew no bound that they went about telling everyone when Jesus had told them to be quiet about it.

May the coming of our messiah give us abundant joy. God help us. Amen.
