Fr. Michael Osatofoh Eninlejie, MSP - Homily for Friday Week 34 Ordinary time - November 27, 2020

FRIDAY 34TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II

Apocalypse 20:1-4,11-21:2

Luke 21:29-33

WE SHALL BE GLQD IN HEAVEN

As I read through the first reading of today, the vision of John when there will be judgment, there is hope and reassurance for us all. According to John, all those who have died and we have been very sad about their death, will rise from the dead and be smiling. Those who have been persecuted or even killed for the sake of the gospel will all rise again. The righteous will be happy and glad. There will no longer be temptation, no fear of death, no need for anything; even the devil will be chained up and rendered powerless.

For us to be happy on that day, we need to take the word of God serious. According to Jesus in the gospel reading, everything in this world will pass away, but the word of God and those who live according to it, will live forever. God help us. Amen.
